More than a journey against forgetfulness: a co-creation that nurtures hope.

On October 19, 2024, Tulle was the setting for an exceptional day, marked by the gathering of 40 French and German students as part of the “Voyage contre l’oubli” project, a true memorial and artistic adventure initiated by Folker Zöller (Consul of France in Mannheim, Germany). It is the result of a passionate co-creation, organized in concert with dedication by Sibylle Treugut (Teacher for the German side) and Danièle Sadowski (Teacher for the French side).

An unforgettable day in Tulle.

The morning began at the Haut Lieu de Cueille Memorial, where the students emotionally and solemnly discovered the portraits of the victims of the tragic events of June 1944. These faces, accompanied by the poignant stories shared by Roland Gonieau, president of the Comité des Martyrs de Tulle, deeply affected the young participants, offering them a direct and human connection with the past.

After a convivial lunch, the students presented a collective work at the Tulle Media Library, blending theater, music, and narration. This artistic moment impressed both with its creativity and depth. The narrative reading, staged by Émilie Weiss and illuminated by several miniatures of the “Paperbomb” artwork by German artist Nessi Nezilla, concluded with the bold and impactful musical creation by rappers Toni L. and Bryan Vit, making this performance an unforgettable moment.

A significant recognition.

The talent and dedication of the students did not go unnoticed by the attending dignitaries. Bernard Combes, Mayor of Tulle, and François Hollande, former President of the Republic, expressed their admiration for this remarkable performance. Touched by the emotion conveyed, they praised the quality of the students’ work and their ability to deliver a message of memory with such sensitivity and modernity.

That same evening, the students continued their journey to Oradour-sur-Glane, carrying with them the emotion and lessons from this exceptional day.

A project supported by committed and passionate partners.

It is important to highlight that an interdisciplinary project like this could not come to life without dedicated patrons and engaged participants. By transmitting memory and helping to strengthen the bonds between generations and nations, they are creating a true bridge between the past and the future, nourishing the shared desire for an enlightened future, based on peace and friendship.
