Ceremony of 9 June
Starting from the Louisa Paulin stele, a procession is formed, led by the flag bearers, the schoolchildren, the families, the supporters, and the members of the Comité des Martyrs together with the various authorities, in order to walk to the symbolic place of remembrance, the Haut Lieu de Cueille (P1 and P2).
It should be emphasized that this ritual of marching on foot has been observed since its introduction in June 1945 – 80 years of uninterrupted tributes in honor of our martyrs.
Each year, the people of Tulle demonstrate their attachment to this ceremony through their strong participation, reaffirming their loyalty to these events and thus preserving a memory that is passed on from generation to generation.
An impressive protocol line, composed of local, regional, and international authorities, is formed (P3).
After the various civil and military tributes and the performance of the customary musical pieces, the pupils of the lycée and middle school solemnly recall, in an atmosphere of attention and silence, the names, first names, and ages of each martyr (99 hanged and now 108 deportees) (P4).
This is followed by one of the highlights of the ceremony: the solemn laying of wreaths, documented and commented on in the following photographs.
