Ceremony of 6 June
In recent years, further martyrs have been identified thanks to the joint work of the municipal archives, led by Nicolas Giner and his team, with the support of Peuple et Culture, and not forgetting Michel Trésallet, who initiated this research.
It was nevertheless necessary to ensure the authenticity of the facts revealed by these discoveries, in particular to verify that these men had indeed passed through Tulle, which was the common denominator. This verification work took time, but it yielded the expected results.
From then on, it was unthinkable to leave them aside.
Through this inauguration, we repair this unintentional omission, thus allowing these seven martyrs:
to join, on this Memorial, their 101 fellow sufferers. The number of deportees who died for France now rises to 108.
This ceremony, initiated and organized by the Comité des Martyrs and the City of Tulle, in the presence of the families, is both a tribute and an act of recognition for each of them, thus creating a link between the past and the memory of future generations. These few photographs illustrate the event.
